Sri Lanka is a surprising country marked by a fascinating history, a magnificent landscape and a very warm people. For me it was also the possibility of living a second chapter of a very dear story. 

 

I could feel again all the moments i had kept in my heart, while walking through this Resplendent Island (the meaning of Sri Lanka) with its incredible variety of its fauna and flora, even after a mass destructions during colonial times, the rivers, the falls and the forests, the ancestral genious creating artificial lakes (tanks) for water management since 2000 years ago, the tropical climate, the always green colour of the mountains and the Patana’s (grasslands).

 

And then there was the people that remember me all about Carolina. The permanent smile, the peace that you can see in every face at any glance, their culture and life expectancy (older than 70 years for both sexes) and the permanent care for environ reflected by Ruhuna (Yala), Gal Oya, Uda Walawe and Lahugala National Parks or the Elephant Orphanage.

 

As our history, Sri Lanka is full of contrasts, such as The Monks and the Crows, the War and the Permanent smile or the Sweetness and the Rage of Nature. Thus, i just picked up Galle in a stormy day, borrowed the voices of Elton John and the unforgettable Lucciano Pavaroti to leave a song for you, Carolina. YOUR SONG (i know it will end up in your hands)

O Sri Lanka é um país espantoso, marcado uma uma história fascinante, uma paisagem magnifica e um povo deveras acolhedor. Para mim, além disso, esta viagem deu-me a possibilidade de viver um segundo capitulo de uma história boa da minha vida.

E assim fui sentindo de novo esses momentos guardados no coração, enquanto caminhava por esta Ilha Resplandescente (o significado de Sri Lanka) com a sua incrivel variedade de fauna e flora, os rios, as cascatas, a floresta, a sua ancestral (2000 anos) habilidade na gestão dos recursos hidricos, enfim o verde permanente nas montanhas e nas Patana (s).

E depois, lá estão as pessoas que fazem lembrar tudo de Carolina. O sorriso permanente, a paz que se sente em cada rosto, a sua elevada esperança de vida (mais de 70 anos) ou o respeito permanente pela natureza de que são excelentes exemplos o Elephant Orphanage, os Parque Nacionais de Ruhuna (Yala), Gal Oya, Uda Malawe ou Lahugala.

Tal como esta história, também o Sri Lanka é um Pais de Contrastes curiosos, como Os Monges e os Corvos, a Guerra e o Sorriso Permanente nas Pessoas, ou a Beleza e a Fúria da Natureza. 

Por isso, Carolina, resolvi escolher Galle (zona de costa,) num dia de tempestade para deixar um recuerdo. Pedi emprestadas as vozes a Elton John e esse inesquecivel Lucciano Pavarotti e aqui deixo YOUR SONG. (Sei que há-de chegar às tuas mãos)
