THE WALK OF LIFE - Learn & Love

Ceuta - Formentera - Mallorca
4,5 days on board. 2 days on shore

Ok. Dreaming is easy, is just to let our imagination free, after all the pulse of the human brain. But the act of dreaming doesn’t end up (at least commonly) in the image we have just created within our souls. Not at all. Dreaming gives you a dynamic movement of the body and mind that push us forward, to go after those dreamed dreams. For that, we have to put our feet on the ground, without losing the dream, get all of it, learn the knowledge we need to conquer it and love everybody and everything that crosses our way, with whom we will share paths, revolutions and happinesses. To the initial uncertainties, proper of those that start a walk, there will be lighthouses that will show the obstacles of the way. Later, we will be lighthouses for those who dare to dream after us. And step by step, we will build something that as worth to live and taste, even if the final goal is not achievable. As I said in last chapter, is in the way that one may find the happiness, not in the horizon. Horizons just work for opening a way.
And so, defeating our fears, with both body and brain used to the sweet balance of the Creoula in Mediterranian waters, we moved to Palma de Maiorca, in our way to Barcelona, tasting deeply the way, learning and loving the oceans and all the people that travel together with us. The sailors and their commanders with their discipline and  marked hierarchy, the students and their permanent rebel state, cadets of the naval school (for me those who have the most difficult task since they are in students age but under a strong discipline), and finally the tutors that have to put in position of those that know nothing and learn from the beginning. All together,  guaranteeing the movement of Creoula, learning what has to be learned and loving the path. 4,5 days living on board followed by feet on shore again on a tour around Palma de Maiorca, evolved by the magic words of Fool’s Overture (Supertramp) because we all have to be a bit crazy, Uprising (Muse) because every generation always have to promote mind revolution,  The Ripe & Ruin and Something Good (Alt-J), because everything has always a good and a bad size (we only have to look were e want). Hope you like it
Kisses and hugs and see you next week.

4,5 dias a bordo. 2 dias em terra

Pois é. Sonhar é facil, é dar livre arbitrio à imaginação, afinal o pulsar do cérebro humano.

THE WALK OF LIFE - Dream

Lisboa – Ceuta.
3 days on board + 7 hours in Ceuta
I look the ocean once more, knowing that since my last UIM adventure the I will never look into it the same way. I see far beyond that pleasant blue surface that matches well in every landscape and gives you a wide sort of near-shore activities. No. I see the ocean in its whole influence on the sustainability of the planet, the geopolitics, the energy, the geology, the (animal, vegetal and mineral) resources. I dive into it melting with its waters, being within.
Fantastic that idea of claiming for the universitarian attention to the oceans, appealing to their sense of adventure, by taking them through the ocean while combining Knowledge, Adventure, Love, Frienship. The training ship Creoula (Portuguese Navy) gives a tasteful romantic touch which is impossible to deny.
Some get into this adventure as a consequence of a delirious moment. Other come because they saw it in a flier and they dreamt about something they cannot explain. Others, just because of that instinctive sense of adventure that flows through their veins.  And some, just from a joke played by their relatives. At the end, no one really thought a big deal about it. And so, when you step in the Creoula’s deck, a iced sensation invades your body and mind, frightened by the worry of not being skilled for that adventure.
But it has been working pretty well, because the population is in the age of dreaming and willing to learn how the dream commands life. Damned will be the generation that couldn’t dream because they will be naked of a soul light and colour. They will never know the happiness of the walk path. Which, in fact, is the happiness itself. Alvaro de Campos said once " Only what we dream means what we really are, because everything we have already done belongs to the world and to everybody. Sharp, i would say.
Dream along with me through this adventure that took us from Lisbon to Barcelona. Today the first (Lisboa to Ceuta) of four Episodes, with the emotional words and music played by Estudantina Universitária de Coimbra (a Tuna which I helped to create and with whom I have had a full basket of adventures), Traçadinho (portuguese typical drink of wine with soda), dreaming with Roger Hodgson (Dreamer) and walking the life with Dire Straits (Walk of Life). See you next week. Hugs. I hope i can make you dream.

Lisboa - Ceuta.
No final, ninguém pensou maduramente no assunto.

KISSING AFRICA - the side of the other side

Cortegaça, Portugal

And here i was back to my home, that sincerly i don´t know anymore where it is. Silvia was not there waiting for me, she had stayed in there new life in Mozambique. Instead, Cristina, another emigrant (in Colombia)  who was here for a short period of vacations, picked me up.

A welcome party came up, which is usual among my friends. There is always a good motive for a party. Especially now, that there is always someone close that had to move away. I feel this side also, right now. The side that sees husbands or wifes, or parents, or brothers or sisters or close friends going away, far. The deep missing sensation that cuts our souls, the wave of feelings that drawn us, the big hole that we feel inside, the insecurity of the life, the overload of work that remains for those who stay. Truly, emigrating is experienced by both, who depart or who stay.

I arrive on that beach house, always ready to let love flow. The Palheiro de Cortegaça that belongs to friends of my cluster. I feel in peace with all those brothers and sisters and sons and daughters, and friends around me, welcoming me back and holding together the sorrow for those that are far. Vitor (who departed sometime ago in the eternal emigrancy) flew into my mind, and made me remember of flower power. And so, Jim Morrison (Road House Blues) and Queen (Bohemian Raphsody) were chosen as the emotional base for the movie.

Hope you like it. The music i´m sure you all like. It is intemporal.

I´ll be seeing you

KISSING AFRICA - The side of the other side from nunocruz on Vimeo.

KISSING AFRICA - Naking the Soul

Beira  - Caia - Sena - Sinjal - Doa - Moatize - Tete - Zalewa - Blantyre

There we go again. This time for one of those long runs, that i´m used to. It will take me from Beira to Tete, and then to Nacala´s corridor in Malawi.

I jump into the off-road vehicle, with the other Cruz (Jorge) in the wheel. Once more brotherized by the same spirit of liberty that this movements always bring. Towards the end of the world. Sleeping in the car, in low class hostal, in the invented Train-Hotel, eating wherever and whenever it is possible, sliding through the landscape that railway have opened. In a glink of an eye we are in Caia, then Sena, crossing the Zambeze in that overwhelming 4km long railway bridge of Dona Ana. And so, we enter a new world, the world of places like Sinjal, Doa, Mecito, Necungas, Kamboulatsitse, until we get Moatize - Tete.

The net is lost in the middle of the course, the cells don´t work leaving us more and more on our own. Slowly we leave behind the rotten things that hide behind any news that come from our Portugal or our Europe. The connections, the society dances around favours, the invey, the states of war we live in. Slowly we melt within our souls, relaxing the muscles and the mind. And tastefully, everything becomes fluid, natural, in balance, and we just undress our souls and feel the liberty going thorugh our bodies. Jorge throws the rythm of John Butler (Oceans) i send back Paco de Lucia, Al Di Meola & John Maclaughlin (Meditarrenian sundance).

I embrace my brother, he is flying back to Maputo, i´m keep going by road, to Zalewa (Malawi) to meet António Azevedo, another strong emigrant of my circles. He is in his second wave of emigration. I have worked with him in 3 different countries. Always with sucess. In parallel we buld our friendship, a good frienship i should say. I embrace again Gonçalo, Quartel, Virgilio, all of them from Portugal. I answer their problems, with success. And i close my working period, ending the night with Helga and Abilio and Tânia, friends of mine that are always on the move. To wherever they are required.

Then, 30 hours in airports and planes until get home. For the first time in my life i was alone (for 3 hours) in an international airport (Maputo). It is really a mark, for me

KISSING AFRICA - Naked Soul from nunocruz on Vimeo.

Ala que se faz tarde. Outra vez.

Saio-me bem.
