INCREDIBLE INDIA - Temples on the rocks

Around Mumbai

Two temples, Kanheri and the Elephanta Island Temples
Two religions, the Buddist and the Hindu
The amazing World Heritage of temples carved in the rock massif
The same Serenity, the same Respect, the same balance
Meanwhile, Kika keeps on conquering smiling people around her, while i ask myself
"How come this intense atraction that seems to touch everyone that step on our way?"
Anyway, she keeps that flow going on and with that, creating a unique story for our path.
Come along with us

INCREDIBLE INDIA - Temples on the rocks from nunocruz on Vimeo.

Dois Templos, Kanheri e Elephanta Island
Duas Religiões, a Budista e a Hindu

INCREDIBLE INDIA - We Love Gandhi

Gandhi always have a place in my heart, my mind, my soul. So many times when going through my catholic education, i had is image in my brain when thinking about Jesus. In fact, there are so many similarities between them that you end up asking

Could he be Jesus?

Augusto Cury, "proved" once that Jesus had to exist, because it is impossible someone to create the person with so important details. Gandhi, we know that lived among us, just like us. With pain, with sorrow, with love with happiness, with justice with peace. Just like Jesus. Somehow its existence supports Cury conclusion.

Naturally, we had to go visit him, in its home in Mumbai, and let him embrace us in his giant hug.
We leave you with
Adam Selzer (Opening Up)

and some of the thinks he thaught that have impact on us.

1) The greatness of humanity is not in being human, but in being humane.
2) The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
3) A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes
4) Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
5) Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed
6) Love is the strongest force the world possesses
7) Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
8) A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.
9) The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.
10) I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.
11) Glory lies in the attempt to reach one’s goal and not in reaching it.
12) An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.
13) Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
14) A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.
15) Nobody can hurt me without my permission.
16) In a gentle way, you can shake the world.

INCREDIBLE INDIA - Mumbai

Mumbai

Through the Gate of India we walked into Mumbay, baptized by the Portuguese when it was given to them as an offer. Later it was given away to the english as part of the wedding dowry of Catarina of Bragança with Charles II, but the name of the city remained with a slight change to Bombay. Only in 1995, it became Mumbai.

Mumbay is an artificial aggolmeration of 7 islands built by the British em 1845, which became the most important harbour of the Arabian Sea and since then it evolved to be the economic capital of India and its city with higher population (20.000.000). It is mainly a fantastic city with exasperating contrasts of shiny health and deep poverty that walk side by side in the streets and avenues of Mumbai, and also this another one that always confused me:

How can a country that born from Gandhi be based in the Cast system that remains in India?

But despite anything, at the end of the day kindness and the smiles that always come along with any conversation or interaction. With surprise i see the magnetic pole that my Kika seems to have atracting Indian borns. First it was that lady in her 30 or 40' that asked her for a selfie, Smiling, Kika just said yes. Right away 4 guys that have my girl under the eye (i saw them in the boat, always looking at her) take the chance and... 4 more selfies were clicked. Then a couple with two kids, then a granny and an auntie, and youngs and olds and the photographic circles around her in a stream that would go for the whole trip. And she always smiling back, giving herself with no fear to that streaming.

And so, between selfies and smiles we lost ourselves in Mumbai, passing by the fishing harbour and fishermen village, the imense and unavoidable open air laundry (Dolbi ghat), Batananga and the sorrounding Hindu temples and so and so on until we ended up in the suspended gardens from where there is a beautiful view over the long Marine Drive, with a couple of more selfies. Under the sound of The Celebration (What’s this magical, Great Pyramid and Open your heart).

Com a companhia dos The Celebration (What’s this magical, Great Pyramid and Open your heart).

INCREDIBLE INDIA - The Entrance Gate

Mumbai, at the Gate of India

A long time ago i dreamt the idea of an Emancipation Trip with my kids, in their entrance for their independent life. It is a simple concept that some of you will find interesting. If it is so, I really tell you… do it. It will bring so many surprises that you are not able to imagine before living it.
Basically, in our society, when you leave to the university you are leaving to live your own life, and a father (or mother) have to stop being so (a father), moving forward simply to a relation between two adults that enjoy each other and love their adventures together. It is a perfect time for a trip for two (father or mother and son or daughter), probably in a way that was not possible before neither will be possible later on.
The first time (with my older son) we followed the unique taste of the desert, in Sahara. This time I ended up crossing the Gate of India following my artistic and emotional ex-daughter Kika to an India she was able to discover. India claimed for her and she let herself go. And I was there with her living that happiness. Once more, I felt happy for that dream germinated in my heart long ago, so long ago. It will remain in our hearts for a long time in the future.
With Robert Tilly & Wooden Ambulance (Lonesome Dove, Never Could Anyone).
