Our story starts in the time Romans ruled the world. All Britannia is dominated by the Roman Empire. ALL, NO. A small part of the territory (Scotland), completely rounded by the Legions of the Empire, keep on resisting to the invasion. It is not a good life for the local roman legions.
Does it remind you something?
Asterix, Obelix, Panoramix and all their fellow companions, for sure.
But this also the history of the Celtic people, the earlier inhabitants of Great Britain (England and Scotland) since V century before Christ. In fact, Julius Caesar try twice to invade the island and not even an inch he conquered, despite their military superiority. Only Claudio’s managed to settle in the island, named Britannia by the romans, and naturally absorbing the population. However, an hord of irredoucible inlanders resisted and even pushed back the romans, from the Antonino wall defense to the Adriano wall defense. If we remember that all of this happened in a druidic environment, then the similarities with Asterix & Co become remarkable.
And so, I found myself going after this land to “feel” their adventures. How could i resist?
I start from the center of the Roman Empire in the island, Londinium, the city that was settled by them and would become the “capital of the world”, some centuries later. Cross with me the city history taken by Lee Maddeford (Genious), Wooden Ambulance (It is what it is) Robert Tilly and Wooden Ambulance (Lonesome Dove) and Shake that little foot (Over the Waterfall).

Estamos na era romana do mundo. Toda a Britania se encontra dominada pelo império romano. TODA, NÃO. Uma pequena zona (escócia), completamente rodeada pelo império Romano resiste tenazmente ao invasor. Não tem vida fácil as legiões estacionadas no local
Não vos faz lembrar nada? O Asterix e Obelix, claro,
Mas esta é também a história do povo celta e da própria Grâ-Bretanha (Inglaterra e Escócia) com incríveis semelhanças com esses meus heróis de sempre que resistem como tal até aos dias de hoje. De facto, Julio César tentou invadir duas vezes esse território por ele denominado Britannia, e das duas nem um centímetro conquistou, apesar da sua teórica enorme vantagem em termos militares. Apenas com Claudio, o império romano viria a conquistar Britannia, penetrando ilha adentro e acabando inevitavelmente por romanizar uma grande percentagem da população. Mas uma irredutível franja continuava a resistir e defender tenazmente os seus territórios e, mais tarde, viria mesmo a empurrar as legiões romanas a recuar da muralha de Antonino para a de Adriano. Se nos lembrarmos que este era um ambiente druídico, quase que podemos ver o Panoramix a distribuir poção por ali.
Não resisto e vou-me atrás dessa história da História, dando vida à vida desses meus heróis. Como poderia eu resistir?
Entro pelo lado Romano, mais precisamente por Londinium, a cidade fundada pelos romanos que atingiu a importância mundial que todos lhe reconhecemos e dispensa comentários, para daí seguir em direcção à alma da coisa, na Escócia.
