TRAVELLING IN MY HOMELAND - Tagus river

Sliding in the River Tagus

That was a fantastic Birthday week-end, upstreaming Tagus river, first by train, from Entroncamento to Vila Velha de Rodão, then by boat upriver until the dam in the border with Spain and then coming down again to Rodão and stay overnight in the boat, right below the magnificent geosite of Gates of Rodão, in the company of Swear and Shake (Marble; Hand and Foot, Heart and Soul) and The Celebration (Battles). I recommend both the music and the travel.

Kisses and hugs and nice hollidays

Recomendo.

INCREDIBLE INDIA - Dolce Fare Niente

Goa

A couple of days laying on our back, sliding through the day in a "Dolce Fare Niente". As soon as you get in Goa you understand right away why this is recognized and tagged with Paradise. It is the moisture in the air, it is the hot sun that forces you to move slowly, reducing the speed of life, thus conquering the taste of the moment. Furthermore and above all, the gentle way of the Goans that spread peace around, touching everybody and making you feel that life can be so easy (if you manage to reduce the weight of the "Money" and the need of Power in your life). I felt proud of our portugality that was able to inprint so deeply our soul in that distinctive region of India.
I was delighted to see those revealing smiles on the faces of so many people from everywhere that once came to Goa and stayed forever. And for 5 days we (me and my Kika) were able to live like that. Delightfully tasting every single moment.
Come along with us and Josh Woodward (Water in the Creek", www.joshwoodward.com/), Bombay Laughing Club (Brother, www.peppermillrecords.com/pm004) and R. Stevie Moore (A Whiter Shade Of Pale, www.rsteviemoore.com/), and enjoy Anjuna and its flee market, the sunset with a crazy football player that "wanted" Francisca in Vagator, Fort Aguada and a delicious bullfight (bull against bull) in Candolim beach until the day falls into the night in the roof top bar of an hotel in Candolim.
And that was it.
Afterwards, picked up our back and front packs and started the long way back home that included 36 hours and 6 fligths. To finish with beauty, the armed soldiers that control airport access opened their strict faces to a smily smile send directly to Francisca showing their appreciation for her and somehow, inviting her to come back.
I’ll see you soon.

E “that´s it”.

INCREDIBLE INDIA - Panjin and the portuguese soul

Old Quarter, Panjin, Goa

I always like to step in the Portuguese soul in my ways around the world and so, in Panjin, i rent us a bagpacking hostal in the Bairro das Fontainhas (Old Quarter), an expression very strong of our soul in India. Walking there brought up to the surface of my thoughts the portuguese sounds in what they are more beautiful (in my opinion).
I remember our Viviane (Recomeçar, www.viviane.com.pt), who i'm proud to call "cousin", and the soul she breathes away when she sings
I remember Antonio Costa, son of a "brother in guitar" that played together with me in Estudantina, and the fantastic project of "Palpita" (Um contra o Outro, http://www.palpitafado.com/), that bring a new interesting and appealing level of the portuguese sing &soul, by the hands of the guitar of Antonio, the sing of a dutch "Musa", Merel, and the Flamencan hands of Ralph.
And they came along and "painted" the Old Quarter of Panjin with their portuguese soul

Then, watching the sunset as you ought to do every single day in India because their magic, a granny, daughter of a Father Cordeiro (Lamb) and a Mother Lobo (Wolf) with opposite personalities, approach us and kindly enthusiastic asked permission:
" I really have to embrace the light that come up from that girl (Francisca)"
Once again, francisca gave herself to the moment. We seat their talkin, letting ourselves fall with the sun and finally i understood the "glamour" of my kika. It is the audacy and mind freedom that she "breathes", mixed together with her natural sweetness. This is what bewitch them. At the end of the day, when falling in my bed, put the Celebration (shelter, http://celebrationelectrictarot.com/) on my iPod and sealed a record in my heart of that magic sunset we have just lived

INCREDIBLE INDIA - Panjin from nunocruz on Vimeo.

INCREDIBLE INDIA - Old Goa

Old Goa

We arrived in Goa by the Old Town (Old Goa), where everything started and the graveland of another hero of mine, this one by the travelling and adventure that his life represents. I am talking about S. Francis Xavier, the Saint of Goa as known widely in the East. Departing from Lisbon with 34 years old, in 1542, in charge of cristianization of East as charged by King D. João III of Portugal, in 10 years he crossed several times Pacific and Indic oceans, thousands km in land and more than 50 countries visited (that is my number in 50 years). At the end of his day, when he died in China in 1552, he was venerated by millions belonging to all social status, ages and religions by the example of humility, solidarity and love that his life was.

Amazingly, is travelling was extended one year beyond his death, for transporting his body from China to the awesome red brick Basilica do Bom Jesus in Goa, where is body rests.
Take my Francisca (selfies & smiles keep on the same rythm) Celebration (I will not fall), Swear and Shake (The Light) e Weinland (Letter Deux) and together we move to an emotional tribute to that fantastic saint.
