And that is it. The end of Kazakitravelling should end up with an Obelix Party. It started then and follow for a couple of more days until the overwhelming dinner "chez Christinne's" in Amsterdam that i told you about in the first chapter of this adventure.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The tail of that trip left in me the unique pleasure that only a FRIENDSHIPing travel can bring. Stays for eternity. Taste it with us, while "Drinking Tea" with Cletus Got Shot. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
And may god bless you with moments like this is during the season and further times. Merry Christmas.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And fatally we ended up in Astana, the 8 of us, the Crazy Portuguese, a title inherited by the noisy laughs, confusion and party that we bring with us all the time and also by the tail of curiosity that our movement to Kazakistan has provoqued a little bit around everywhere. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We were received as kings of a far land by the clan of Ulmeken, in a smiley, warm and intimate dinner of horse meat and other flavours of the local gastronomy. Offered by the big, warm and open Kazak Heart of that family. Taken by the Portuguese Heart, with that soul that only a Portuguese Heart can show. And that was my Honour, my Pride, my Pleasure.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After our return, I was told by Ulmeken that her mother baptized us… Sunshine People. Again, Honoured, Proud, Pleasure. A deep “thank you so much”, by the generous and sharing welcome with whom you have embraced us.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I invite you to come along with us to visit the city, the Expo and the people that made fantastic our stay, following the tail of The New Mystik Trobadours (Fashion Breaks) and Monk Turner & Fascinoma (Prisioner).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The New Mystik Trobadours (Fashion Breaks) and Monk Turner & Fascinoma (Prisioner).</span></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Says the legend tha any country in the world has something special to present, astonishing beaches, awesome mountains, incredible rivers. And to Kazakistan, only steppe was given, which made them complain to God. And God, grabbed from the bottom of his hat a landscape of fantastic mountain cliffs diving into crystal waters, covered by trees and shrubs that were the home for several fishes, insects, birds and earth animals. And that, was naturally where we ended after crossing the infinity of the Kazak steppe. A wonderful time crossing that beautiful landscape, by the hand and the heart of Andres, an ex-soviet army fellow that stayed behind in that paradise after the soviet fall and got found of us. We share our canned sardines, he gave us back the smoked fish and his home made vodka, we shared revolutionary songs from our Portugal and his Russia, he took us all in his boats to the soul of the lake, blown by Our Friends (Mind Orchestra) and When Another Sun Shines (Innocent Bandits).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

When Another Sun Shines (Innocent Bandits).</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Almaty - Astana by train</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Wake up in the night, while dawn was still sleeping, with the sparkling that comes up to my pores when a train travel rises up in the horizon. His smooth and syncopated movement relax my full body, while the nowhere landscape existing between stations that slides way continuously in the window greatly stimulates my brain, my memories, my perception of the world history. Moreover, the train never confines my space and opens his doors in every station, giving me that sense of freedom on what my mind was built. That is why, the train has always been my preference for travelling.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bubbles boil in my memory, the first travel on my own (15-16 years old) that started precisely in the mythic Portuguese Douro Railway line that follows the river with the same name, through a really incredible landscape that reports you to the origin of things. After that I have done the same with other two river lines (Tagus and Tua rivers), crossed Europe in the interail in my first big journey abroad, fell in love with La Trochita a historical coal train of the beginning of settlements in Patagónia, cut the Tramuntana (Mallorca Mountains) in a train that seemed to come out of a movie, and I was a lucky mother F… when, on my line of work at MOTA-ENGIL, I fell deep in the Nacala (Malawi) and Sena (Beira – Moatize, Mozambique) lines, within the coal railway paths, where I learn my love for Africa. Finally, i will have the Trans-Siberian and Orient Express lines permanently in my horizon, while i don´t slide on them.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Famous Turk-Sib (Turkestan – Siberia) line, ended in 1930 passes through Almaty, and that was a temptation to me, but the path would get us away of Astana and Borovoie, marked destinations of our trip. As so, we picked up one parallel line that links the Turk-Sib and the Trans Siberean lines and passes through Almaty, Karaganda (important city of the coal) Astana, Borovoie before crossing the Russian border. Fantastic choice. 15 h riding in the immense infinity of the Kazak steppe, touching the incredible Laka Balkhash and mixing my nomad soul with the nomad nature of the country (the origin of the name Kazakistan was given by the neighbours to the nomads that live there and means those without ceiling), under the sounds of Monk Turner & Fascinoma (Watcha Doin) and Cletus Got Shot (Bummin Around)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
The trip ended with our arrest by the local Police because we were caught smoking in a forbidden zone:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Let´s scare them” was the tought of the entire guarrison of the station that surrounded us, threat us with a Gulag and finally freed us in a magnanimous gesture. And so, there was done another train trip that nobody can take away from me</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are no free lunches anymore, so they say.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are only few, fewer and fewer, the politicians that don´t lie, that cheat the people, even those who elected them. And there is less public health, less justice, less education. Everything for the <span style="font-size: xx-small;">money</span>. Shrinks with that the available persons who wish to set friendships without especting some favour, some money, some power, some what???. Sad thing, sad world. I keep going in another way, even though knowing that we cannot correct the world. But in my mathematics 0.05% resisting is better than 0%.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In this way I think that it won´t be long for having recently born paying to their parents that fuck that gave them the existence. Probably, with ATM machine at moment of birth. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I fill my soul with the free sharing of such delicious friendship moments that rolls among us, within the awesome scenaries of the natural beauties of Issyk lake and Big Almaty lake (3000m), without anything to payback. With Edith Frost (Wonder wonder) whispering our hears and... a funny driver that we had for one day, that appeared and dissapeared into the fog as in any comic book.<br />
Buuuuuuuuuueééééééé cool</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Muita Fixe</span><br />

Shymbulak, Kazakistan</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was born facing the immense ocean that gave me the soul to dare the glance beyond the horizon, the need of penetrating him called by the horizon that always lies after the horizon. I love the taste of the salty foam that refreshes my face and my days. I love its infinite infinity that enlarges my perspective. I love his flow movements, sometimes serene sometimes tempestuous in the syncope that makes life flow. It have fed my instincts since my first minute on earth, the ocean. Always in the horizon of the windows of my life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With the ocean in the instinct and in the horizon, i grew up facing the mountains, taken by hand by my father all the way to the top, in great freedom flows. At every climb, at every conquered summit, more mountain spirit was (and is) installed in my soul, melting with the instinctive ocean already in there. I love the vertigo of heights and conquers, felt in the sweet loneliness crossed by the whistle of the wind singing throughout the mountain valleys or by the sound of water playing against the gravel river beds followed by the chorus that arise from the local birds. That is why the spelling call of the mountains is unavoidable for me, everytime the mountain cross my way. I just let myself embrace into a heady dance. That was what happened once more in Shymbulak, a ski resort installed in the mountains that guard Almaty. Blown by the sound of Mountain Top (by Cletus got shot) i jump with all my team into the amazing cable car that takes us up to a 3200m mountain spot. As I get there, my legs take the lead and walk me, on the rhythm of Ovulation (by Learning Music), to the deep heart of the mountain. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I fill up my lounges with a happy air and, like a hornpipe, I release it back singing out loud with my friends songs of freedom. Come along with us and enjoy that nature</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="280" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/243436000" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="480"></iframe>
<a href="https://vimeo.com/243436000">KAZAKITRAVELIN - All the way up</a> from <a href="https://vimeo.com/user1205194">nunocruz</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com/">Vimeo</a>.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</span></div>

We left in the morning, after the confusion that 8 people waking up in the same apartment can create, which was brought into the well managed van (by JO, a friend that drove us all the way of this adventure). 10 people talking at the same time in crossed conversations, from the back to the front of the vehicle. I was delighted with the harmony created by people that hardly knew each other before, mixing professors and students, young people and people with doubled age, musleems, christians and non-believers, opening their hearts to a good trip. 200km on the road (and then the way back), crossing Almaty Province towards the Chinese border, where the Charyn (or Sharyn) river flows and the canyon of the same name scratches the landscape along a line with 80 km. It tells a magnificent geologic life story carved in the red sanstones by the waters that coming from the famous Tian Shan Mountains (Mountains of Heaven), by the eolic action of winds or even by some heat volcanic episodes. I walk with my friends the last 5 km of this canyon listening to the local histories, told by Ardak and Ulmeken, or by my own imagination. And the intimacy among the group is growing up to an unthinkable level, bringing up to my memory another trip to the Sahara desert 20 years ago where a friendship between 8 people started and never went away. Blown by the Mind Orchestra (The Minoan) we slide down the canyon towards the flowing river. </div>

</span></span>Nuno Cruzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08961727834607390918noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2458426240984390063.post-75013061878141403162017-11-03T23:43:00.000+00:002017-11-03T23:43:16.652+00:00KAZAKITRAVELLIN - The city of Apples<div style="text-align: justify;">
Almaty, Kazakistan</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They got into my class one morning, with 3 weeks later than supposed by tricks of burocracy, 5 smily kazakistans that, as a group, marked the difference in the class of Rock Mechanics that i teach in Aveiro University. I felt lucky to see them evolving along the semester, mainly because I just love what team work means. You give the best of yourself, without thinking in your payback, although it is inevitable that it will come to you. Usually generates generosity, giving, sharing, loving, a delightful path. Furthermore, i slowly tasted the intrinsic joy that arose from them, just for being there in a longinquous mitic country (Portugal is a mitic longinquous country with a powerful history for people from “the other side”), living this piece for their lives. All the senses and live emotions in my soul of my first mitic longinquous countris (Tibete and Sri Lanka) came up to the surface, completely enlightening my loving heart.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This walk with them along the semester brought back my early dreams of fantastic histories of adventures evolved in the farway Central Asia, from Gengis Khan to the Silk Road, from Jules Verne to Nicolau Gogol. I was seeing the faces of those histories right in front of me. Fatally, I cancelled previous bookings, and move my soul towards that unknown country for me. Me, and one more, plus one more and even one more, fell in the contagious enthusiasm of my heart for that travelling adventure. At the end, we were 8 when the plane landed, at 4.00 o’clock, in the City of the Apples (Almaty), the old capital of Kazakistan (until 1998) and the most important city of Kazakistan, located in the way of the centurian railway line Turquestan – Siberia.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Waiting for us, the joy and giving hearts of Ulmeken and Ardak that would live together with us until the last minute of our stay.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Come and meet them (I am sure you will love them) and follow us around the city of the apples, floating with the Flight of the Falcon (Learning Music) </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A Ásia Central. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">Bora lá daí conhecê-las, e com elas conhecer a cidade das maçãs ao som de Flight of the Falcon (Learning Music)</span></div>

<br />
Travelling is something that i increasingly need. As worse is my context with the world, more the travelling time becomes in a fundamental freedom essence of my reason and my soul. Any time I start moving, my smile wides completely disintegrating all the impotence and disappointment against the creepy increasing corruption and lies that you are confronted everyday in your activities. More and more. However you have to hold on to your convictions, otherwise it will be even worse. Therefore I need very much to dive through new natures, open dialogs with other people, other faiths, other lives, digging smiles on those faces I have never seen before and probably not seeing again in the future, but that will remain in my soul mixing with other smiles that I kidnapped in other movements.<br />
The travelling, just for itself, creates that atmosphere. But sometimes, by unusual circumstances that converge to the same horizon, the intensity of things transport you to an unforgettable upper level of intensity. And that was exactly what happened with this trip to Kazakistan. Eight people (friends of friends but not yet friends) moving through scenaries hardly dreamt before, freeing their emotions and intensifying feelings, guided by two other girls that opened to us the doors of Kazakistan through their own hearts, whose story I will tell in the following weeks<br />
It started and ended in Amsterdam, this unforgettable trip, ending in an Obelix party with all the tripmates in a fantastic dinner offered by the sweet Christine, a dutch friend that I haven’t seen for 25 years (last time was in my wedding), where we met my eternal love, Dicky, a partner of love and life since the romantic university times and Jildou, another friend that slept under my ceiling and to whom I have widen the smile with the breath of our Portugal. Awesome moments and feelings that flooded to the main (trip)stream until becoming part of the trip itslef. I thought I was about to die, while returning after that dinner, given the impossible intensity that was exploding inside me.<br />
La Vie est Belle, by Lee Maddeford, lend the words and bring the emotions for the prologue and epilogue of that trip. Enjoy<br />

<br />
La Vie est Belle, de Lee Maddeford, empresta as palavras e faz a emoção do prólogo e do epílogo dessa viagem </span><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I get up in the morning decided to move around the colonial área of Villa de Leyva, to take everything i tis got to offer, which in reality gives me na unsuspected richness. I grab my friends while we jump into the car rented in Bogotá, and laughing out loud the happiness we feel in our hearts we just head to Raquirá (near 30 km from Villa de Leyva), another coulored colonial city that is considered the colombian capital of pottery. In 1994 it was considered one of the most beautiful places of colonial Boyacá by the Corporacion Nacional de Turismo de Colombia. In the local indian language Raquirá means the Land of Pottery. And so we got lost in that beauty full of history that ends up in a overwhelming meal in a famous local restaurante. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
And with the brain somehow dizzy by the wine that followed the meal we pu tour legs on the way towards the famous monastery that religiously rule the region. The monastery Ecce Homo that owns its title from the famous painting with the same name, that was stolen in Rome by a spanish soldier. The daughter of that soldier, Catalina Casallas, dreamt with a saint, talked to his brother and the monastery was born. In 1998 it became arquitectonic heritage of Colombia. I breath the peace that always come from thes places, but i also feel the brutality of the church on those dark times of cristianization.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
From there, we just followed our path back to Villa Leyva, stopping by another local amazing place: The House of Terracotta a life project of the Colombian arquitect Octavio Mendoza, the biggest piece of pottery in the world as he like to name it. It was built exclusively by hand using only clay and baked in the sun and without any single piece of cement or steel. Inside, the rooms curve and flow into each other, as though the entire house was cast in a single mold. The dream of Mendoza gives not only the fantastic piece of work that i tis, but also points out a way to built handicraft houses making use of the most famous thing of the region (pottery). As divine as the monastery that we had visited a few hours before. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
As usual, i just melt the music (Como el Humo by Mama Patxanga, Cantate Domino by Les Petites Chanteurs de Montigny, Maria Magdalene y Maria Jacobi by Tudor Consort and Be Free by Derek Clegg) that echoes in my ears, expecting to activate the travelling soul that must inhabits every soul of those that read my stories<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kisses & Hugs and… get happy.<br />
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #bf9000;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #bf9000;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #bf9000;"><br /></span>
</span><br />
<span style="color: #bf9000;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #bf9000;">Beijos e abraços e…sejam felizes.</span></div>

It was once the town for spanish families and vice-roys to relax, and, frozing in time, Villa Leyva preserved more or less intact the original characterisitics and today is considered as one of the main atractions of the Colombian National Network of Heritage Towns. It is really worthy, if you have the opportunity.<br />
<br />
If you have legs and lungs, go towards the small santuary that you may see from that impressive plaza mayor until you see jesus in your size. One hour and an half to go climbing steep, plain of sweat, but at the end you will have waiting for you a unique view of the villa, especially to understand the real dimension of that overwhelming plaza mayor.<br />
<br />
As usual for me in this kind of places, history penetrates my soul and my brain is swallowed by sliding histories of love and war, generosity and evil, romantism and obcurantism. I add some music to the brain (the 5th Reason by Remus, Blue Draggish by Underscore Orchestra, Go to tell it on the mountains by Petits Chanteurs de Montigny) and type in my memory the pleasure i had in that week-end with a bunch of good friends.<br />
<br />
Kisses and hugs, especially to those with an anxious present<br />

<span style="color: #b45f06;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #b45f06;"><br /></span>
Junto-lhe uma musiquinha (the 5th Reason by Remus, Blue Draggish by Underscore Orchestra, Go to tell it on the mountains by Petits Chanteurs de Montigny) e escrevo na memória o prazer que aquele fim-de-semana me deu com um punhado de gente muito boa.</span><br />

Abençoados fomos, por isso, nesse dia. which is the place where Captain Cook landed for the first time. Truly, it is
not a town, but just a small marina, a few houses, one of those complexes of
villas for tourism and Bustard Bay, where Captain Cook left the boat and put his
feet on shore. They say that one can see more or less the same that Captain has
seen. 1770 exists together with another small town, named Agnes Waters, a well
known place of Surf in Australia. As fast as we arrived, at the sunset, we were
sorry not to have come earlier. A simple place, with just the basics for
supporting life, a relaxing nature and an touching easy going atittude. And
when talking in the reception of the hostal with some nice costumer that was
around, he asked me how long i would stay. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
- Unfortunatly, i have to leave tomorrow,
which is a tremendous pitty, i said<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
- Why do you leave, if this is a
tremendous pitty, he asked back<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
- I have to be in Brisbane for
work, tomorrow night.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
His face turn serious, he look
into my eyes, put a finger in the mouth and whistle:<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
conversa comigo ele me pergunta:<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
One of the of the seven wonders
of the natural world and the second “to be seen before you die”, as i heard
from BBC TV, stepping on my way. The Great Barrier Reef, the only living thing
that can be seen from the moon. It starts at the level of Bundaberg (Hervey Bay,
Fraser Island are nearby in its south limit) and strecthes along 2300km up to
Torres Strait, with a maximum width of 80km and a distance to shore that varies
from 300km (in the south) and 30km (north). It is the home for 1500 different
species of fish, 4000 breeds of clams and other moluscs, 800 echinoderms
including sea cucumbers, 500 types of seaweeds, 200 bird species, 1500
different sponges and six type of turtles. A fantastic sanctuary of life and
biodiversity that we couldn’t escape from. We only had time (and money) for one
spot, so we followed the always useful lonely planet previously installed in
the tablet, and hit the road up to the lovely and live Airlie Beach, the main gateway
to Whitsunday Islands in the Great Barrier Reef National Marine Park.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
It was a small touch in the Reef,
we know that, but it was an astonishing one. I (once again) felt myself in the
skin of the brave Portuguese sailors when they first put an eye on it in the beginning
of XVII century. This is the gateway to PARADISE, it has to be. Surprisingly no
one (dutch and french also were around at the same time of Portuguese) claimed
for that land until 1770 when Captain Cook took possession of it. <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

wave surffed in the company of the Mind Orchestra (Spirit Walk)<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
podia trilhar. As Whitsunday Islands no Great Barrier Reef National Marine Park.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

I wake early, very early, because
i want to take advantage of what the day offers. Put my shoes on, grab my canon
and the GoPro, throw them inside my bagpack and run into the harbour to take
another boat, this time to Fraser Island, a Island that lives under the
aboriginal culture lores, giving a breath of adventure that my soul truly
enjoys. Located 300 km north from Brisbane, the island is more than 1800km2,
the biggest sandy Island in the world, with its infinite dune system and
subterraneous water creeks that feed rivers and more than 200 lakes of sweet
water. The result is that despite the sandy nature of the local ground the
cover of the Island is dense and green, making it a very unusual place. As a
consequence, Unesco declared it as World Heritage in 1992. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The 'Butchulla' people would
originally name the Island, 'K'Gari' - a fitting name they gave this tranquil
place that means 'paradise'. Most of today's history suggests that
"K'Gari" was occupied by the 'Butchulla' people for five thousand
years, and some even say that it was much longer at around twenty thousand
years. There was a permanent population of 400–600 that grew to 2,000–3,000 in
the winter months due to abundant seafood resources. The arrival of European
settlers in the area was an overwhelming disaster for the Badtjala people.
European settlement in the 1840s overwhelmed the Aboriginal lifestyle with
weapons, disease and lack of food. By the year 1890, Aboriginal numbers had
been reduced to only 300 people. Most of the remaining Aborigines, the Badtjala
tribe, left the island in 1904 as they were relocated to missions in Yarrabah
and Durundur, Queensland. It is estimated that up to 500 indigenous
archaeological sites are located on the Island. In October 2014, Native title
rights were granted to the Badtjala people by the Federal Court. This
essentially enabled the indigenous people to hunt, fish and take water for
domestic purposes and could open the island up to economic opportunities for
current and future generations of Butchulla people through ecotourism and
related business development.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The actual name Fraser Island
comes from Eliza Fraser and her story of survival from a shipwreck on the
island. Captain James Fraser and his wife, Eliza Fraser, were shipwrecked on
the island in 1836. The ship was holed on coral while travelling through the
Great Barrier Reef. During the trip in the
lifeboats, Captain Fraser's pregnant wife gave birth in the leaking lifeboat.
The infant died soon after birth. The Captain's lifeboat was becoming more and
more unseaworthy and was soon left behind by the other lifeboat which continued
on. The sinking boat and its crew was beached on what was then known as the
Great Sandy Island. Whether the survivors died due to disease, hunger,
exhaustion or battles with the native population will never be known for sure;
most likely a little of all of the above. Captain Fraser died leaving Eliza
living among the local peoples. She was rescued 6 weeks after being shipwrecked
by a convict, John Graham,[10] who had lived in the bush as an escapee, and who
spoke the Aboriginal language. He was sent from the settlement at Moreton by
the authorities there who had heard about Eliza's plight, and negotiated her
return. Within 6 months, Eliza had married another sea captain. She moved to
England and became a sideshow attraction in Hyde Park telling ever more lurid
tales about her experiences with white slavery, cannibalism, torture and
murder. As she is known to have told several versions of the story, it is
unknown which version is the most accurate. She was killed in a carriage
accident in Melbourne in 1858.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;">Venham lá daí comigo, no sopro dos temas Enjoy the Nature e Respect then Love (the Mind Orchestra), tão em sintonia com os princípios dos Butchulla, saboreando este lugar único no mundo e um dos principais destinos para quem passa por aquelas bandas.</span><br />

After 14 hours of a furious

indispositions that a long flight brings to your body, finally we arrived in
Brisbane, with 17 hours delay to the planned. Midnight, what to do?. Stay in
Brisbane or move up driving the 400km we were planned to do during the day. And
so we did it. We drove it to Hervey’s bay where we arrived at 4:00 in the
morning to face only closed doors to a nice and confortable bed. Only after
7:30. And so we packed our 3 bodies along the ca rand let ourselves drawn with
the huge and scaring noise of an intensive bird life that was just waking up
for another day. Breakfast, reception details, and without a sleep, we jump on
board of the boat that will take us off-shore towards a meeting that had
already escaped from twice (In Azores and in Argentinian Patgónia): Whales.<o:p></o:p></div>

city, where the police drive lamborghinis. Let’s take the chance, Forget the
misfortune.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
30 years ago, there was no more than a little village in
this arid landscape in the margins of the Arabian Sea. In 30 years, a modern
city emerged from the desert and from land reclaimed to the sea. Everything is
clean, everything is organized, everything is controlled. Too much of those 3.
Too less of that youth soul that makes cities live.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
And then… we realize that this is a borning city, the first
one i met, with a history that haven’t happened yet, a life it hasn’t lived,
the sadnesses and anguishes it hasn’t felt. Everything can happen, this future
is not previewable, everything can be dreamt. For sure i will not see to where
all this thing went on, but i was blessed with a glance of its birth. I will
not forget it. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
A couple of hours later, i’m shipped for the terrible 14
hour trip that separates Dubai from Brisbane. I'm on the road, again. I´ll see you in Australia<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="280" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/184920878" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="400"></iframe>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
profundeza do dia a dia.
a noite dorme profunda.
a caminho do aeroporto.
Ficaremos no
cala a alma.
Aproveitemos o ensejo, saltemos o desatino.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
apanhar frio e fazer ski.
garante o futuro. Tudo demasiado limpo, demasiado asséptico. Soa, sabe e parece
estranho. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">No meio disso apercebo-me que é a primeira vez que estou numa
cidade com tão tenra idade. Imagino-lhe a
Brisbane. On the road, again. Vemo-nos na Austrális</span><o:p></o:p></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Come along with me visiting the beautiful and historic center of my beloved country. Starting from Porto de Mós, crossing the amazing Serra Daire where, despite is greeness, no water can be seen at surface, and the stopping by in two historic places of the country:<br />
<br />
1) Aljubarrota, where Portugal deeply carved its nationality, in the last great battle against Spain in the long fight we have for our land won by our side as a result of a revolutionary tactic that has a place in the military history of the world,<br />
<br />
2) Fátima, one of the most famous catholic sanctuaries, where Holy Mary is believed to have appeared to three sheppard children (Lúcia, Jacinta and Francisco).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I leave you with and Swear & Shakeand (Wrecking ball, These white walls and Suddenly) </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
and with hugs for everybody that should be given further in a warm and surprising hug to anyone that may enjoy it</div>

<span style="color: orange;"><br /></span>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
That was a fantastic Birthday week-end, upstreaming Tagus river, first by train, from Entroncamento to Vila Velha de Rodão, then by boat upriver until the dam in the border with Spain and then coming down again to Rodão and stay overnight in the boat, right below the magnificent geosite of Gates of Rodão, in the company of Swear and Shake (Marble; Hand and Foot, Heart and Soul) and The Celebration (Battles). I recommend both the music and the travel.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A couple of days laying on our back, sliding through the day in a "Dolce Fare Niente". As soon as you get in Goa you understand right away why this is recognized and tagged with Paradise. It is the moisture in the air, it is the hot sun that forces you to move slowly, reducing the speed of life, thus conquering the taste of the moment. Furthermore and above all, the gentle way of the Goans that spread peace around, touching everybody and making you feel that life can be so easy (if you manage to reduce the weight of the "Money" and the need of Power in your life). I felt proud of our portugality that was able to inprint so deeply our soul in that distinctive region of India.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was delighted to see those revealing smiles on the faces of so many people from everywhere that once came to Goa and stayed forever. And for 5 days we (me and my Kika) were able to live like that. Delightfully tasting every single moment.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Come along with us and Josh Woodward (Water in the Creek", www.joshwoodward.com/), Bombay Laughing Club (Brother, www.peppermillrecords.com/pm004) and R. Stevie Moore (A Whiter Shade Of Pale, www.rsteviemoore.com/), and enjoy Anjuna and its flee market, the sunset with a crazy football player that "wanted" Francisca in Vagator, Fort Aguada and a delicious bullfight (bull against bull) in Candolim beach until the day falls into the night in the roof top bar of an hotel in Candolim.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And that was it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Afterwards, picked up our back and front packs and started the long way back home that included 36 hours and 6 fligths. To finish with beauty, the armed soldiers that control airport access opened their strict faces to a smily smile send directly to Francisca showing their appreciation for her and somehow, inviting her to come back.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I’ll see you soon.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="280" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/170149293" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="400"></iframe>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">E “that´s it”.
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">Até um dia destes</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Old Quarter, Panjin, Goa</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I always like to step in the Portuguese soul in my ways around the world and so, in Panjin, i rent us a bagpacking hostal in the Bairro das Fontainhas (Old Quarter), an expression very strong of our soul in India. Walking there brought up to the surface of my thoughts the portuguese sounds in what they are more beautiful (in my opinion). </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I remember our Viviane (Recomeçar, www.viviane.com.pt), who i'm proud to call "cousin", and the soul she breathes away when she sings</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I remember Antonio Costa, son of a "brother in guitar" that played together with me in Estudantina, and the fantastic project of "Palpita" (Um contra o Outro, http://www.palpitafado.com/), that bring a new interesting and appealing level of the portuguese sing &soul, by the hands of the guitar of Antonio, the sing of a dutch "Musa", Merel, and the Flamencan hands of Ralph. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And they came along and "painted" the Old Quarter of Panjin with their portuguese soul </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Then, watching the sunset as you ought to do every single day in India because their magic, a granny, daughter of a Father Cordeiro (Lamb) and a Mother Lobo (Wolf) with opposite personalities, approach us and kindly enthusiastic asked permission:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
" I really have to embrace the light that come up from that girl (Francisca)"</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once again, francisca gave herself to the moment. We seat their talkin, letting ourselves fall with the sun and finally i understood the "glamour" of my kika. It is the audacy and mind freedom that she "breathes", mixed together with her natural sweetness. This is what bewitch them. At the end of the day, when falling in my bed, put the Celebration (shelter, http://celebrationelectrictarot.com/) on my iPod and sealed a record in my heart of that magic sunset we have just lived</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="280" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/169349825" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="400"></iframe>
<a href="https://vimeo.com/169349825">INCREDIBLE INDIA - Panjin</a> from <a href="https://vimeo.com/user1205194">nunocruz</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com/">Vimeo</a>.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"> E depois…</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Old Goa</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We arrived in Goa by the Old Town (Old Goa), where everything started and the graveland of another hero of mine, this one by the travelling and adventure that his life represents. I am talking about S. Francis Xavier, the Saint of Goa as known widely in the East. Departing from Lisbon with 34 years old, in 1542, in charge of cristianization of East as charged by King D. João III of Portugal, in 10 years he crossed several times Pacific and Indic oceans, thousands km in land and more than 50 countries visited (that is my number in 50 years). At the end of his day, when he died in China in 1552, he was venerated by millions belonging to all social status, ages and religions by the example of humility, solidarity and love that his life was. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Amazingly, is travelling was extended one year beyond his death, for transporting his body from China to the awesome red brick Basilica do Bom Jesus in Goa, where is body rests.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Take my Francisca (selfies & smiles keep on the same rythm) Celebration (I will not fall), Swear and Shake (The Light) e Weinland (Letter Deux) and together we move to an emotional tribute to that fantastic saint. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #e69138;">Pego na minha filhoca (os sorrisos e as selfies continuam ao mesmo ritmo de sempre), junto-lhe uns pós de Celebration (I will not fall), Swear and Shake (The Light) e Weinland (Letter Deux) e vamo-nos ao Santo, prestar-lhe a sentida homenagem. </span><br />
<span style="color: #e69138;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<br />
Two temples, Kanheri and the Elephanta Island Temples<br />
Two religions, the Buddist and the Hindu<br />
The amazing World Heritage of temples carved in the rock massif<br />
The same Serenity, the same Respect, the same balance<br />
Meanwhile, Kika keeps on conquering smiling people around her, while i ask myself<br />
"How come this intense atraction that seems to touch everyone that step on our way?"<br />
Anyway, she keeps that flow going on and with that, creating a unique story for our path.<br />
Come along with us<br />

and find your own balance<br />
I dedicate this movie to my unfortunate colleague João David e Silva. Hope you will be in peace, wherever you are.<br />

So many times when going through my catholic education, i had is image in my brain when thinking about Jesus. In fact, there are so many similarities between them that you end up asking<br />
<br />
Could he be Jesus?<br />
<br />
Augusto Cury, "proved" once that Jesus had to exist, because it is impossible someone to create the person with so important details. Gandhi, we know that lived among us, just like us. With pain, with sorrow, with love with happiness, with justice with peace. Just like Jesus. Somehow its existence supports Cury conclusion.<br />
<br />
Naturally, we had to go visit him, in its home in Mumbai, and let him embrace us in his giant hug.<br />
We leave you with<br />

and some of the thinks he thaught that have impact on us.<br />
<br />
1) The greatness of humanity is not in being human, but in being humane.<br />
2) The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.<br />
3) A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes<br />
4) Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes<br />
5) Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed<br />
6) Love is the strongest force the world possesses<br />
7) Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”<br />
8) A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.<br />
9) The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.<br />
10) I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.<br />
11) Glory lies in the attempt to reach one’s goal and not in reaching it.<br />
12) An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.<br />
13) Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.<br />
14) A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.<br />
15) Nobody can hurt me without my permission.<br />
16) In a gentle way, you can shake the world.<br />

<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;">Augusto Cury, analisando cientificamente a

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Through the Gate of India we walked into Mumbay, baptized by the Portuguese when it was given to them as an offer. Later it was given away to the english as part of the wedding dowry of Catarina of Bragança with Charles II, but the name of the city remained with a slight change to Bombay. Only in 1995, it became Mumbai.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mumbay is an artificial aggolmeration of 7 islands built by the British em 1845, which became the most important harbour of the Arabian Sea and since then it evolved to be the economic capital of India and its city with higher population (20.000.000). It is mainly a fantastic city with exasperating contrasts of shiny health and deep poverty that walk side by side in the streets and avenues of Mumbai, and also this another one that always confused me:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
How can a country that born from Gandhi be based in the Cast system that remains in India?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But despite anything, at the end of the day kindness and the smiles that always come along with any conversation or interaction. With surprise i see the magnetic pole that my Kika seems to have atracting Indian borns. First it was that lady in her 30 or 40' that asked her for a selfie, Smiling, Kika just said yes. Right away 4 guys that have my girl under the eye (i saw them in the boat, always looking at her) take the chance and... 4 more selfies were clicked. Then a couple with two kids, then a granny and an auntie, and youngs and olds and the photographic circles around her in a stream that would go for the whole trip. And she always smiling back, giving herself with no fear to that streaming.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And so, between selfies and smiles we lost ourselves in Mumbai, passing by the fishing harbour and fishermen village, the imense and unavoidable open air laundry (Dolbi ghat), Batananga and the sorrounding Hindu temples and so and so on until we ended up in the suspended gardens from where there is a beautiful view over the long Marine Drive, with a couple of more selfies. Under the sound of The Celebration (What’s this magical, Great Pyramid and Open your heart).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kisses and hugs</div>
<div>
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="300" mozallowfullscreen="" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/165476560" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="400"></iframe>
<a href="https://vimeo.com/165476560">INCREDIBLE INDIA - Mumbai</a> from <a href="https://vimeo.com/user1205194">nunocruz</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com/">Vimeo</a>.<br />
<br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Com a companhia dos The Celebration (What’s this magical, Great Pyramid and Open your heart).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;">Beijos e abraços</span></div>
